- The History of Van Zandt County Texas indicated that Judge Staton "served as Postmaster of Grand Saline and was associated with the State Bank of Grand Saline. He served two nonconsecutive terms as Van Zandt County school superintendent, resigning to become superintendent of schools in Wills Point, a position he held for twenty-seven years. ...George D. Staton IV was elected Judge of Van Zandt County in 1952 and served this office until his death in April 23, 1961. ....Judge Staton attended the Normal School in Denton, Texas, and received the B.S. degree from East Texas State Teachers College."
