    Notes
    • On Lucy's first day of school they asked what her name was and she said "Lucy Jane" because she wanted a middle name. Since then she became known as Lucy Jane but she never officially added Jane to her name. -- Frances

My Aunt Lucy Jane Dunaway. My grandfather gave none of his five girls middle names....hoping they would use Garee as their middle name when they were married. But....My Aunt Lucy...wanted a middle name so when she started to school....she told the teachers her name was Lucy Jane. She subsequently named her younger daughter....Carol Jane. -- Irene

Lucy was the president and secretary of the County Home Demonstration Council of Federated Clubs. She was the secretary of the County of Oklahoma State University Alumnae Association. She was also a Red Cross Gray Lady and a Sunday School teacher.
"At the time of her graduation she was on the honor roll. Lucy was the outstanding freshman girl in Home Economics, member of Omicron Nu National Honor Society of Home Economics, member of the President's Honor Class, 1935." [1]
